xdonpistox: you dont just set it to the lowest..you either do it by ear (which I dont recommend sinec you thought full gain sounded good) or using a DMM

xdonpistox: go the the JL Audio website and it will show you how to set the gains properly

Let's see what else comes of this....this is the same person that I told his PG's were too big since they were already pressing against the speaker grills and he didnt want to take the grills off, so he asked me "can't you cut off the magnet a little?"

I told him to measure his trunk a few months ago so i could build him an enclosure and his response was "i failed algebra, i dont know how"

You can't clip a speaker.

I fudged up. I meant he clipped the amp and was sending a clipped signal. i pwnt myself since i was caught up with his idiocy.

Wow, uh-may-zeeng! He txt messages me this morning tellin me he got a new amp to replace the one he had (who knows if it was better). Apparantely he blew yet ANOTHER speaker, thats 3 in total. Now he wants to go back to the his Phoenix Gold, but says he just bought Bose. I told him stop buying crap and his response was "they are good." I told him, no, that is low end. I procedeed to tell him there are better stuff out there and offered my Boston Z6 mids for 115 for the pair and he says "that's too much". I tell him he spent $60 on infinity speakers and he's spending some more on some Bose, he's spending more than he needs.

He then says bose is the best. Wow, just wow. I had to be blunt and say "are you fvcking with me? first there is no such thing as the best, second, its mostly install, third, its not even near the best." At least i'm getting some laughs out of this. And he keeps callin bose, "bore" I'm like dude, learn to spell....i don't even see how he got a C in English.

I sure hope not, boss, thats even worse. But he says it's in high end cars, so im assuming he's talking factory sound systems and only thing I can think of similar to "bore" is Bose.

if he's that cheap i'm pretty sure it's boss. bose wants a lot of money for their things and i dont think they make any aftermarket items for car audio. he sounds retarded enough to get the two mixed up though. i think he needs a good slap upside the head.
