yeah pull around the dustcap and see if any part is loose

It all seems pretty tight..would it be an obviouse amount of looseness, like a gap? And jmanpc do u know bout recones on these?

Make sure there aren't any leaks. Air leaks often sound like loud slapping/rattling.

fi will recone them, along with many other companies tc will also, but may be more expensive

Air leaks around the dust cap? or where else?

Around the mounting ring. Maybe even take of the rubber ring and check the surround where it meets the basket.

You may also want to run it out of the box with low power before you go and throw money at a recone.
