I just talked to them but i figure you guys might know more about them then i do. I am wanting to run 2 Viper 1200.1 to one of their 15's i just do not know which one to get. He said that i could go with a 3" voice coil or a 4" voice coil. He did not really tell me anyone specs on the subs but i see the Uberwoofer and i want something like that. The main thing is that i want the sub to handle the power i am giving it. I am looking for sql and space is not an issue that is all the information i can give you so please point me in the right direction.

wait for the soundsplinter lmt woofer to come out. It is a tc soudns driver and will be the best woofer that they make, but you will only be able to get it through ss. Cost is gonna be around $550 and itll be out in a coupple months.

Although the LMT will kick the ass of most subs on the market today, the TC9 and TC2+ motors are still excellent values.

Yet I wouldn't suggest strapping two Vipers to one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Sounds like you may be more intereted in something like the TC3HP (like the Eclipse Ti's are based off of).

Hey I know those guys! =]

Given your desire to run one woofer with 2 kW +/- .. I would suggest asking them for a TC4HP build. The 4HP is the motor design they use on the Eclipse TiPro, obscenely huge and heavy, with the 4" coil, it should take the power like a champ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Or he could just buy one of my 4hp 18's

Maybe not to one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

More subs can always be an option //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Dan actually got into it with the LMT...showed that it has many drawbacks...I say wait till RE's new woofer comes out...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I told myself I should stay away from confrontation with other vendors - but bein' the small fry in town, I feel the need to object to some of the implications you may be inferring from Dan's post over at SoundDomain last week

Foremost is the fact that he was drawing his conclusions based upon a driver he built labeled the V12, yet the V12 isn't all that similar to LMT. You can always pick apart the pros and cons from drivers in different classes, that's how we get a variety of woofers in the market place, each optimized for their own specific applications! The upcoming Linear Motor drivers are designed specifically to tackle a niche area of the subwoofer market for those whose are concerned with achieving the absolute lowest distortion currently possible, in a package that won't cost them thousands of dollars. Sure the LMT's won't be for everyone - I probably wouldn't bother putting such a beastly driver in my car since for myself, I know I'd be more than happy with a smaller driver that is easier to work into the car, won't weigh it down so much, and won't need as much power. Of course, when I start thinkin' about my home audio environment.. well, the LMT would be ideal in my opinion

Point is.. this new driver isn't magic. I do believe that it will be one of the best drivers currently available, but as with any subwoofer, it has its preferred environments, and on top of that, each person has their preferred taste which is the real deciding factor! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Losing a bit of respect for mister wiggins trying to mislead people and go against competitors....granted the point is to promote your product, I still don't feel cheating anothers driver by not fully informing people is right.

I was gonna have a decent reply to this, but it looks like mike covered pretty well. I will say this though, in the post DW made on SD it appears that he had a flawed understanding of the technoogy. The way myself and a few other saw it, he assumed that LMT is simply adding some winds at the end of the voice coil, but in reality it is aprogressive increase in the number of winds in the vc which will eliminate most of the complaints he had.

Well..from what I remember, Dan never really said that they just plopped wire on the end of the VC...although he did say there are more windings on the end of the coil...which would mean a wider gap...also, a higher inductance....and more mass. Also he mentioned something on another forum about putting copper somewhere in the top plate or the gap, which he said causes fluctuation on the Le curve.

Dan also had a tech sheet of an LMT from TC as well...and IIRC, he drew a lot of things from that as well.

I'm not hating on it whatsoever as I've never heard/seen/used an LMT driver...but people think it's the be all end all of drivers (I guess it's like Xbl has been lol)...give it some time though...I'm sure the SS version of the LMT will be a killer speaker. I still say wait till RE's new woofer comes out to draw any real conclusions on the upcoming supersubs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

excellent response from soundsplinter...way to keep it respectful but yet make a point at the same time.(most wouldnt have handled it that way)...and also snova has a point as well. you should just wait and listen to them both and buy the woofer nased on what you are looking for...whatever that would be.

but people think it's the be all end all of drivers (I guess it's like Xbl has been lol)
I think people are just happy that there will be another ultra-linear motor technology out there to choose from. So far our only options have pretty much been XBL^2 or a "standard" driver, with no other (or atleast very few other) technologies out there that really offer the type of linear Bl XBL^2 and LMT are capable of.
