Taurus owners/installers

Look in the passenger side in the trunk. Pull the carpet back and see if its there. But if its like mine there wont be a plug. Ford is dumb like that. I have a 03

it may be in the trunk off to the drivers side right under the carpet...thats where my buddy's was in his sable...should be the same
This box?

Hey, maybe I can be of a little help. I just did a head unit install in my '97.

In my car, don't know how it is in the '02, but if you lift up the carpeting on the left side of the trunk, you'll find a control box type thing, where the antenna and other wires are plugged into.

When I ordered the wiring hardness from Crutchfield, they sent along all new wires for everything I'd need.

Then, you need to route all the new wires from where the control box is (there will be nothing hooked up to it after you're finished) to behind the head unit/wiring harness to plug in not only that but all the controls for the A/C and whatnot.

I guess since you unplug everything from the control box itself you don't need to route them all the way to the front, but all the stock wiring your new wiring plugs into is already in the trunk itself.

Refer to my thread I just made for pictures of the control box and all the wires and plugs that come form the back of the radio.

I sent you a PM but its all good now. So she will need a wiring harness from crutchfield to connect the Ford CD changer to the stock radio (control box)?

Yeah, it's $69.99 though. It comes with all the wires needed. But beware, you have to take certain parts from the stock radio and put them in the new wiring harness and also make sure you connect all the things up properly, otherwise you will have a car without a defroster or temperature settings.

Here it is. A little different looking than mine, but same exact concept.

Well, my car did not come with the CD changer so I can't say about that. All it had was the radio up front and the tuner box in the trunk like in the picture.

If you ask Crutchfield about all the wires you'd need (make sure to tell them how it's a stereo up front, tuner box and CD changer in the back) and I'm sure they'd set you up with all the wires you'd need.

yea it should come with everything???????

all you have to do if harness is included... is mount the cd changer. rout the wire to the silver tuner box. plug it in. and see if it works by pressing your cd changer button on the factory radio.. ( mounted in the dash.)

Well it is a factory radio and a factory CD changer. I am not sure if her changer has the cable. If not, can she purchase this cable from the dealer?
Should be able to. Just make sure to get the part number off the control box and the changer before you ask. They'll need them.
