a little dremel-ing (in the circled area, and on the other side) and now it fits:

hopefully i'll finish up the dremel work (and do the other side) and find some way to get mounting screws through the rear deck.

i'll have some time tomorrow, so maybe i can get them installed. don't really have any power for them, though.

they're actually much beefier than i expected. can't wait to hear how they sound.

im surprised they're not poly coated....I mean, it is a 6x9 application and all, its expected one *might* want to put it in a 6x9 location within direct sunlight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

yeah, and that they don't fit in stock 6x9 locations (and the mounting holes are way off).

but, should i look for some kind of coating? (like PE's "wet look")? is there anything i could get locally?

You gonna cross them over your subs ?

as of now, they will be a nice change from my subs (hopefully).

my car's electrical just can't handle my subs/amp.

i was thinking about making a new box, and wiring one of my subs to 4 ohms.

probably set the amp to about 500W cross over of the tang bands at 60Hz and then cross over to the 6.5's at 150Hz. (how does that sound?)

but for now, just the tang band's.

Just good ole Krylon Clearcoat should be ok for that, just tape off the surround so it doesnt get covered. You dont need a thick coat, just a real thin one.
