sx 15 to an 18???

I'd believe so, you'd have more cone area, which would mean more output, if installed correctly, However, I'll let someone else answer in the SQ department....

Yes there will be a significant SPL increase (should be very audibly louder), but it will also require twice as large of an enclosure. Theoretically SQ should be better, as a sub with more displacment potential (in this case, cone area) wont have to work as hard to maintain the same output level of a smaller (but otherwise equal) sub. Less stresss = less distortion. The added cone area will also affect the frequency response curve, as the 18 will shift the response curve lower than a 15 (a good thing).

I think you mean wave reinforcement effect. The added foot or two you would gain in your pathlength wont have much affect when you consider the subbass wavelengths can reach over 50 feet long.

The 18 will ofcourse be louder, but how do u figure its going to have better sq. If anything it should have worse sq. 18s are slower. By no means will the bass sound any better. Im not saying the 18 is going to sound bad though, because im sure it will perform well for certain types of music.
