Switched from SS PCA1500d to AQ2200d

So I just switched from a PCA1500d to a AQ2200d, I was surprised with the sound.

First I have a 270+ HO alt from DC, a KHC1800 in back and 2 SDC2.5-12's in a ported box.

I had my PCA1500d set up with a DMM was reading app 1400 at 1 ohm at 40Hz, I hooked up the AQ2200d and based on the AC voltage with my gain settings it should be putting out about 2000 at 1ohm at 40Hz.

With all other varaibles constant, the Soundstream sounded louder both in the car and from outside. also shook the car quite a bit more. But the AQ is much tighter when it hits. better at reproducing fast kicks in my music.

Just curious why the difference in volume.

I have 2/0 from front to the back battery, 1/0 to the AQ. 8 gauge from the amp to the speakers

My box has subs forward port forward fires right into the cabin with the seats down.

Was expecting a little more output from this amp, especially considering the difference in fuse rating and power wire inputs.

Would anyone esle expect the Soundstream to be louder.

sounds like either you have wired the subwoofers out of phase or your crossover/subsonic filters are set incorrectly.

I also compared a recently bought aq2200 to a sound stream dtr and I have have to say from all the talk of the aq i was expecting a lot more. Needless to say the aq is now my backup amp. It also needed more power to match the output levels of the dtr

I have eveything set the same the only thing I changed was the amp and the gauge of the wire to it

The soundstream took 4 gauge.

I have the bo tuned to around 38HZ, the subsonic on both amps is/was set to 30hz. And my deck has a dedicated preamp output for sub that has a cross over level I keep at 120Hz.

I am also keeping the same set up for the EQ on my deck as well as the preamp out put controls.

I don't compete so I only use it while my car is running, so I know it should be getting the power it needs.

I also notice, the soundstream hits hard at lower volumes, where the AQ needs to be turned up to hit hard.

I am not all that upset given the music I listen to.

I am more just surprised. I was expecting more.
