SW9152Pro - Eclipse 15" Titanium Pro Subwoofer

Not quite. Both the Ti and Ti Pro use a 2" wide half roll foam surround. The Sd for the 15s is about 650cm^2, using the 1/3 surround method. It is significantly lower than other surround types, but certainly far higher than ANY 12" woofer, let alone any 10" woofer.
Sd for a 15" driver with a 1.5" surround is about 750-760cm^2, and Sd for a 15" driver with a 1" surround is about 800-805cm^2.

Personally I think the Ti Pro is a complete waste of money for anything other than SPL competition. It has the same linear displacement as the regular Ti, and an almost unusably low Qts. The Ti has plenty of BL as is, and the Ti Pro just takes it to a rather excessive level for musical purposes. It's also a ported only driver, unless you plan on using a LT filter with it, but why bother when you can get better musical performance from the regular Ti, for a lot less money?

The ONLY real differences between the Ti and Ti Pro are that the Ti Pro has the 4HP instead of the 3HP, and thus has more BL, and a 4" diameter VC instead of a 3" diameter VC, so it will handle more power. It has the same linear xmax, and a much higher inductance.

Bottom line, don't bother wasting your money on that driver unless you plan on doing SPL competition, and even then, there are other drivers which are likely to perform better for that application, and cost far less than the Ti Pro.

Lastly, if you look at the image title, and the driver itself, it's clear that photo posted is just a regular Ti 10. Remember, the Ti Pro uses a 10" diameter motor, and there isn't a 10" model.
Have you personally listened to one?

Why would I need to in order to make any of the factual statements I just did? It's a FACT that the Ti Pro has the same xmax, higher BL, and higher inductance. So, it's going to have to be crossed over at a lower frequency, since I believe Le is right around 9mH, which is pretty **** high.

Why waste that much money on a driver with more distortion than the regular Ti (because of the higher Le) unless you are doing SPL competiton?

I don't need to listen to it to know that any of that is true...I can't imagine why anyone would assume that would be necessary for ANY of the undeniable facts I stated.

LOL, I wasnt trying to prove you wrong, I was asking if you had ever heard one just to get your thoughts on the real-life performance, rather then whats on paper.

My mistake. I wouldn't really bother listening to it. It wouldn't be hard to make it sound acceptable in a small vented enclosure tuned fairly low. You would probably want to cross it over at 50-60Hz or below, however.

The bigger point is, why waste that much money when you can get a more accurate woofer with as much or more linear displacement, and much lower distortion, for a lot less money?

It's honestly a fairly application specific sub. It can be used for music, but it doesn't deliver much performance for the price.

If you read my earlier posts, I had the older model of this sub, and I'll tell you right now that it sounds EXCELLENT in a sealed enclosure, and you cant judge by specs on paper, as many have pointed out in the past. The spl was probably the woofer's biggest strength, yet as I also stated earlier, the sq was better than "acceptable", one of the most musically enjoyable I've ever listened to. As for the price, I paid $500 shipped via ebay, had to get rid of mine recently, and sold it for $200 shipped on ebay.

$200 shipped on a 15" woofer...... cant beat that with a stick

Technical evaluation is a bit more complicated than "specs on paper". The Ti Pro is extremely anemic in a sealed box.

You said you had the 88150Ti, and that is NOT the Ti Pro, that is the Ti. It uses the 3HP, not the 4HP. The regular Ti sounds good in a sealed box, but it has about HALF the BL of the TI Pro. The driver you posted a picture of is a regular 3HP based Ti, and NOT the 4HP based Ti Pro. They are NOT the same woofer.

Anyone who thinks technical evaluation isn't accurate doesn't have a CLUE as to what they are talking about.

How you confused the Ti with the Ti Pro confuses me. You would NEVER find a Ti Pro for $500. You had the regular Ti, and it is NOT the same, so your whole post is moot...

I could of had one for about $400 but I bought my regular Ti RIGHT before I was introduced to SDP and he informed me of the deals he could make //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

They retail for like 1499 though dont they?

in that case, I'm very sorry. When was the ti pro introduced? Because I forget the exact model number of my sub, I lost the manual for it a long time ago. All I know about the sub is my personal experience with it, which was nothing short of love lol. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But yeah, if the regular TI sounds good in a sealed box and the pro doesnt, then I definately had the regular TI. I just assumed it was the predacessor of the "pro" because when I first looked it up on eclipse's site to considering buying, the woofer model I selected was listed on their highest (best) line of woofers. Either I got confused with my information/model number, or the seller on ebay lied to me. Let's hope it's the first right? lol...

i got mine for $500 shipped on ebay brand new //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but retail is MUCH more then that so i guess i got a pretty good deal. and since there seems to be a expert on this topic with the Ti Pro what do u suggest for a box size for this sub. right now its in a 2 cubic sealed which eclipse recommends. but then again eclipse don't no anything bout there own sub. they have given me lots of different box sizes. I guy told me DO NOT put it in a sealed box, another guy saud 2 cubic sealed. i said 7 cubic feet tuned to 70hz, another guy said 4 cubic feet ported (no hz). LOL What do you think??

I'd go with about 3cf@30-35Hz. You'll want plenty of port area. They have a REALLY strong motor, so despite what people have been lead to believe, they need a small, rather than a large box.

The retail on them is stupidly high. I'd rather have a regular Ti for music any day...

I have the 10" ti and WOW...I love this sub, I have it in a custom sealed box between my front seats with plexyglass...THis thing pounds...I have a memphis 1100watt amp pushing it. I would love to make sure its all installed right tho because sometimes I think its not LOUD enough LOL...I paid 800 for the sub...
