supra vs stang

Stang. In a heartbeat!

Mabey it would be different if I didn't know of at least 8 89 - 03 stangs in my area that are running in the 8's and are 100% street legal.

5.0, MPFI, Edelbrock, B&M, and Procharger, seem to have a ton to do with this on most of those cars.

Not only that, but I have owned 7 Fox Chasis Ford vehicles (currently still own 2) and would trust their overall reliability and construction far over many other cars, including the Supra. The Fox's were plain built d*mn well OEM.

I'm not a hardcore Mustang Fan either; as I would prefer Fox Tbirds, Cougars, and Mark VII's.

On the other hand, I do really like the look of the Supra; but without the body kit crap.

I kinda agree with Josh on this particular car, the body kits just screw up some good factory lines.

In reality though, you are comparing the reliability of a 3.0L Toyota to that of a 5.0L Ford.

Personally, that alone would be enough for me to go with the 5.0L without a second thought.

The 5.0 was pretty much hands down the best/most popular engine that Ford built.

I've known of several issues with the 3.0L where they actually had a lack of power. - Yeah, imagine that.

Not to mention, the 5.0's tend to be a world easier to work on than the 3.0.

So yeah, the Mustang it is for me.

Just personal preference......

i would take whichever one is more expensive, sell it and buy a pinto with hubcap spinners. The mustang is the civic of domestics IMO.

"There is no replacement for displacement" It like comparing apples and oranges. I like neither Ford or Toyota, but I still have to say that a Mustang in a performance-minded comparison is a better overall vehicle.

id have to say mustang if it was a 94-95 because they are the newer body style 5.0's and the last years. i really dont care much of the fox style. but if speed is all your into then deffinatly the mustang. but if your wanting looks then the supra. you can get them looking really nice if you do them right. but for me id have to say mustang. even though you see them as every other car, if you do a couple different things it makes it unique from every other mustang.

I'm a HUGE Mustang freak, but the Supra is an awesome machine even in stock form. No dissin from me, BUT, overall, you can make that Mustang Quicker, Faster, and handle better than the Supra for far less. Now, I highly doubt you will be able to make 9 second power on a 5.0L, will definately have to bump up to the 351 Windsor or Cleveland(windsor would be the wiser choice, and stroke it for reliability. Personally, I happen to like the fox platform. They are cheap light and there's a myriad of parts available for them. If you break something, it's so easy to get new parts. Good luck finding parts readily available at a moments notice on the Supra.

As for the Supra, I've read many times how the stock bottom end is capable of supporting upwards of 900HP. Nowhere near that on the Stang. Hell you'll need quite a bit of support to run 500 on the stock block. If you go Supra, I suggest no body kit. The stock lines are downright sexy, yet subtle and IMO, should be left alone. A nice set of wheels and you're good to go.

Either way you go, you'll have an awesome machine.

And enough of the import bashing. I used to be that way, but think about this........

Why are the BIG 3 taking their work out of the country to make money, when the import manufacturers are building plants all over the country here and they don't have a problem do they. Hmm...........

1. you can make a 9 second car out of a 5.0 block, maybe a stroker kit or whatnot. you dont need a new engine.

2. what does a 400hp mustang have in common with a 700hp supra...?

they both run 11s.

Q: How much power can the [Mustang 5.0] stock block handle?A: There are several answers to this, do you want a combo you never have to worry about, a semi-reliable combo, or a time-bomb / glory machine? For a reliable setup 450rwhp seems to be the limit, anything above that and you are asking for trouble.

Supra because it's more exotic, and daily driver reliability. A Mustang would probably be a lot cheaper to build though.

Need to include $$ figures though...

Stock block LT1's and LS1's aren't exactly fond of stupid large amounts of boost either...

But for what it'll cost to dump a forced induction system into it, I can easily have a forged bottom end and a stroker kit installed... The application focuses for the two motors are entirely different. Then there is that stupid assumption the supra is going to be more reliable...

And someone hand me a sawzall, that wing on that supra needs to GO.

actually there is no answer, i was basically asking if you guys would rather have a fast car with semi good looks....or a semi fast car with better looks.
