you can galk at these if you wish but they never really tell the whole story. so i just love it when people say this and that but dont know anything about it (not pointing fingers because i was one of those people until i researched it for one of my law classes)
but for instance. did anyone know that mcdonalds had been warned numerous times by the government among others to lower the tempature on its coffee? not because it was hot, because it was scualding... literally.
mcdonalds figured out that if they kept there coffee unreasonably hot they could use it longer and wouldn't have to replace it.. thus making more profit. in addition it never really mentions that she wasn't moving at all (but you'd assume she was) she was actually parked at the window when she was trying to put cream and sugar into her coffee, when removing the lid it spilled inbetween her legs where she had it placed. she got 3rd degree burns on her inner thys, groin, ***, etc. all she asked for was enough money to cover the hospital bills ~25,000 and mcdonalds refused. so she went for the money through the legal system where she was awarded 200,000 iirc, the judge also awarded her around 3 mill in punative damages but a few days later they checked mcdonalds coffee and they had lowered it 40 degrees to around 150 (which is still at or above the industry standard) so they simply trippeled her compensational damages
in the end they entered into a secret settlement. also mcdonalds had over 700 documented cases where their coffee had burnt people. some as badly as liebeck...
thats your worthless lesson of the day
