I'm not sure about the plexi glass causing a sound loss, I can't imagine it would (as long as it was thick enough). MDF is by far the best building material to build sub boxs. Ideal thickness is about 3/4".

I TRY'D THE HOME DEPOT HOWVER I COULD NOT FIND ANY 3/4" WHAT THE DEAL.........AND THIS%$#@HEAD TOLD ME THEY COULD NOTODER IT.........HELP!

the only thing that i have seen wrong with plexi glass box's is that they vibrate way to much.

Yeah this is what I have heard also. And flexing could also be an issue if the plexi wasnt think enough. MDF is a good building material, although I am experimenting with other various hard woods right now.

Cherry, Eastern Maple etc. The boxes look good so there is no need for carpet. Always 3/4" or more thick. I will be dropping in some drivers to see how it sounds, if there is any noticble difference(compared to MDF)...doubt it though. Mostly I think the boxes are for looks, but functional as well.
