It's interesting to see a sub move like a bastid but the center stay still! This is the first time I've seen this thing move so its neat!

I moved the pole to the UP position, in this video its down so I have to keep the volume/sub level down a few clicks to not bottom it out. I'll see what happens tomorrow with the thing up, hope it helps this little issue. Hope this video isnt shizzy quality, my touch recorded it pretty good.

from what i was told like 15 years ago, dont touch it, it should be set or reset at the factory, it doesnt change the xmax like everyone thinks, it sets the cone to its origional position where it is supposed to be, a speaker surround can wear over time or from punishment from power (like the stroker) and the cone can sag or set in too far. If yours is old then it might be sagging a lil. I would play with it a lil but very carefully, there is obviously no one to talk to talk to or anywhere to send it as the company that made that sub doesnt exist.

I picked up a 12 a few years back on ebay for cheap, before the whole 'oldschool is better' thing that goes on nowadays and shot all the old stuff through the roof. It played decent loud on 600w but he had KILLER lows. But then really thats what the sub was built for orgionally, for sound halls and such. By todays standards its average, but I remember when a 12" was like $600. Still a neat peice to have anyways. Have fun.

edit- just seen its still in my avatar cause I havnt changed my avatar since I joined the forum I think lol

seriously. its only rated for 1200. LOL dont hurt it.

If I recall the old school SPL guys used to dump thousands of watts into these things and they say the coil in these subs are pretty much bulletproof, the suspension will collapse or the cone will fold instead. There was a guy that used either 9 or 13 of these in a van and was doing over 175 dB.

I'd say raise the subsonic filter to about 35~50Hz and bring on the 2nd Rubi //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

OOOOOOOHHHHH Ok. See, my suspension is sagging so it bottoms out after I'd say around 13-1400rms on the lows.

i shattered the cone on one of mine at a show last season:( it didnt like 2 AQ 2200's strapped
Jesus! Hows much did it take, and what kind of score did you hit?

I still don't see how people can say they are only "average" compared to recent subs. I'd be hard pressed to find a better SQL sub, period. Some took 'em to shows and came back with SPL trophies, others came back with SQ trophies.

the cone is weak, they fold, the motor/soft parts are there but the cones always folded, If I was OP I would just use it for its intended purpose and run like 1000w to it with a 25hz subsonic and enjoy, they do sound really great

the basic technology in them can be found in about any $150 1000w sub on ebay, for their day they were way advanced, remember $600 15 years ago was like $1200 today, and they are really a great musical sub that take power, but saying you would be hardpressed to find a better 'sql' sub today is a far from true statement, there are plenty of subs out there today that sound just as good, but I really dont think OP bought it for that reason, when I look at his age it seems like he bought it for the reason I got one a few years back, I couldnt afford it when I was 16, and all my buddys were like holy ****, a stroker, lol

this thread makes me want to buy my old stroker back, still sittin in my buddys garage, I have a mtx blue thunder 150x2 and a 75x2, 600w bridged to the stroker 12 and 75w each door and do a small oldschool build, also it was a 'limited edition' D2 so I could run it on a dual channel bridged at 4 or a newer mono amp

Hey everyone great posts! I wasnt aware fully what adjusting the pole did, learn new things each day!! Ill get a pic of the box its in in, 4 4" aeros tuned real low... It deeeeeestroys the lows, i know its limits as well. Its been a fun go between sub while i ponder my next move.

Ps i think the sub is fine, any odd noises may be small air leaks in the box, its been around a time or two and has some amp screw holes in it here and there which may not be all filled in with caulking or more screws
