stolen ipod

Hey guys,

I went skiing up at loon two days and when I got back to my car I noticed my Ipod and my radar detector had been stolen. I just bought the Ipod 3 months ago, it was an 80gb silver one. I bought a three year warranty to go with it. It sucks but I didn't know if anyone knew if I bought a broken one and brought it back to Best Buy would they know it wasn't mine? Like through the serial number or something? Just wondering, I figured I'd ask before I go out and try and find a broken one...

no, i saw this on Dateline NBC, apple wont spend the moeny to help you track your ipod. even though they could easily do it as soon as the thief uses iTunes.

Hate to be an *** here, but why would you leave items of signifigant value in an unlocked vehicle? I am only assuming it was unlocked because you did not mention any smashed windows. If you left it unlocked, it sucks it got stolen, but you could have easily prevented that outcome.

Tell me about that I know. It was a mistake I'll never make again I was so excited to finally be at the mountain and I had all my gear in my hands...I know it was my fault that it got stolen, but I kinda figured that they'd check the serial numbers.

No they wont depending on who you get. 99% of time they dont even open boxes. and im sure apple has enough money. And if he paid for warranty why does it matter? He isnt ripping them off. he would be given them his if it broke?

If the thief really wanted the ipod and radar detector that badly then he would of got those items whether the doors were locked or it was armed with an alarm.

So in other words, its a good thing he didn't lock his doors. Because then he would have to pay for new windows on top of the stolen equipment.
