Sticking metal to metal

Make sure you use an adhesive that dries into solid form. You dont want an epoxy that would cure and remain soft/pliable (think silicone), because this would only serve to decouple the two pieces of metal, exactly the opposite of what you are wanting to accomplish with your roof supports. JB Weld does cure hard, Im only saying this in case you decided to try something else, or for others reading this who may choose to use something other than JBW.

Yep JB weld dries hard.
