SQ that jams

OK guys on the old mags and ixl these are around 1000rms subs and that brings me back to my question I had with the Bostons will they produce ground pounding sound quality with say 650watts due to electrical restrictions in truck. I was told factory electrical is only good for around 1500 watts and I want to put about 50 a piece to components. On the mb quart are you suggesting this as a 4 or 2 sub system. I am assuming 2 on the others for power requirements.

Phoenix gold rsdc12 is rated for 600rms, will handle way more, and will get loud off of your 650w

The Mag v3's or any previous models will have to be had used, but like previously stated they can be had for around $200 each. They can deliver a LOT of output while still sounding good. The v4 Mag's sound incredibly good while still being able to get pretty loud (meaning you won't do a 144 with one 12, but mid 130's are easily had with a single driver), but they only work in, and were designed especially for, small sealed boxes. The v3's can be sealed or ported and you can throw a lot of power on the v3's.

sorry left screen open and computer is acting up. I was looking on si web site forum and they claim the mags are happy from 300 to 900 watts. And the box size is about what I have planned out. So do you guys think I should just pony up the extra 100 bucks per speaker and get 4 mag v4s and try and get um around 400rms a speaker??? I dont have It cranked up all the time so I the electrical might be alright. Should sound good clean and powerfull right?

I am sure you would be happy with it. Should get pretty loud as you would have alot of cone area, and as a result of the you should be able to get very low.

Those Boston speakers are nice, but so are the Mags.

I honestly don't think you will need 4 of them to do impressive numbers. I am sure 2 of them could come close if not over 140 with the right install and sound dam good to boot. Also they are very efficent and don't take the whole 1000rms to get them moving like others have said........which means you can keep the gains lower and not stress your electrical as much.

Also for a cheap way to help out your electrical system, do the big 3. Probably could get away with 10' of some 0/1g wire and go to town, which isn't all that hard to do. Mine is, because my alty is under the car, but if you have a truck, then should be eaiser. There is a thread on here to help you out as well.

Good luck.

I would say 4 is more of a want then a need. Its not really about numbers either It will probably never be metered. Just like the idea of 4 12s in my truck. Want it to sound right though. If you guys say it will work with the v4 and sound dam good to boot on around 400watts a piece I think that will be the plan. I already have the wire to do the big 3 just havent done it yeat. Yea mine is under the truck too its a ***** to get to.

If you do 4 Mag's with 400 watts each, that will be stupid loud (IMO). I just got back from the MECA show in Statesville NC and I competed in both SQ and SPL. I was a total idiot and didn't have the volume turned up all the way on my HU but still managed to do a 137 with two Mag's in less than 1.9 cubes total. I brought the XTZ RTA just in case, but the SQ judge didn't RTA anyone's car. I brought the XTZ not only to see if anyone's overall response was flatter than mine but to also see if anyone was flat down to 16 Hz. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The Mag performs very will with limited power, anything 300 or more should keep you happy
