SQ dudes

you have 2-18's & you are asking abou SQ????with rear fill midbass.

Interesting

most SQ-SQL guys dont have 2-18's pounding in there head with a small front stage.

If you want more from your front stage you can try 8inch pods & yes learn how to fiberglass.

it a hobby right, why not have some fun & learn new things.
The cone size is an interesting subject. Many people do not buy larger drivers for greater output, some do it for efficiency, some do it for IB. A little off subject, we can think about IB in home, people might have 8 18" subs in an IB configuration and have a well balanced home audio system, it can be the same in car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

True, you can port or use an aperiodic membrane. But imo that's generally a better option for a 2-way front stage where the mid is being asked to perform midrange and midbass duties. If you put dedicated midbass drivers in the kicks, ported (for example), you still have the pathlength and beaming issues when you mount the midrange and tweets in the doors. Processing can compensate for most of the pathlength issue, but I dont feel T/A can truly compensate for proper speaker placement, and beaming will not be helped by processing at all.

SQ is pretty much an open subject... Sure you can use whatever you want and if it sounds great to you then you got SQ!

Now you can go minimal like the system mentioned above something simple that sounds good and be happy. Or you can go full on extreme like Mark Eldriges 4Runner with a 100% complete custom job millions of hours tuning each track/driver, also having driver placement phasing all that other crazy stuff. "SQ" is a lot of work and hours of beer drinking and more tuning.

If you want to know more about SQ read this artical from the man himself this guy has done it all Mark Eldridge: Do The Evolution (Jan/Feb 2001).

But dont take my word for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am currently doing a built in a 96 eclipse with 2 cyclones, Just waiting on my DQX and Matrix //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good luck!

It's going to be more of an SPL setup. The whole reason I was asking about a midbass is because I'm not doing any rear fill, and have an extra amp.
I'll be back in Nashville anywhere from 2weeks to 3months. Depends on playoff run //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Hopefully the latter.

And I'll be experimenting with some...interesting ideas. A lot of new toys. What amp do you have laying around?

Well I'll have an eD nine.2 or nine.2x, depending on which one I use. I also have a broken LA Storm amp. I connected it and it started smoking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Put some nicotine patches on it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
