Ok for strictly SPL numbers what do you think is better and why? Also if you have tested these before share your results... I hear some people saying small boxes for SPL like a single 12" in 1.5 cubes with 45 inches of port and others say throw it in a large efficient box like 3 cubes?

I know power has something to do withit, like the smaller the box the more power you need for it to maxout mechanically, so does it just depend on how much power you want to run or what?

well there are a couple schools of thought on it. The smaller the box the more power it can mechanically handle but the less efficient it is. people try to make up for this with a LOT of port. Also, the smaller the box the less impedance rise.

With larger boxes you get higher efficiency, less mechanical power handling but more impedance rise. Things sort of cancel each other out.

You really just have to ask yourself. Which do I have more to spare, volume or power? If you have LOTS of volume, you can make a more efficient box, wire to .5 ohm or .25 ohm and let the impedence rise bring it up to around 1 ohm.

If space is a premium but you have lots of power, build the smaller box and let 'er eat.

also your results will vary wildly based on your vehicle, to figure out what will be loudest in your application look at what is winning in the lanes they are doing something right
