I let a friend borrow this old sub of mine and now it dont work:(

It is a SPL 10 sub 1000w rms. It's a dual 2ohm sub and one of the coils quit working...If you hook the good voice coil up It plays fine, If there hooked up together at 1ohm it wont work, Unless you mash down on the dust cap and then it plays:confused: and if you let off of the dust cap it quits playing ??? Weird ???

And here is the coil I cant really tell if anything is burnt with out taking the whole thing apart completely

Is there anything I can do to fix it or should I just scrap it?

Well what i believed happened was. This sub has those crappy screw terminals instead of the push kind... and from all the vibrations just worked it self lose and some how blew the coil in the process

x2 LOL. but my buddy has 2 15"s and only 1 of them has this same exact problem.
WOW! I also have a friend here in Orlando that completely blew the same sub apart ater like 2 minutes of use right out of the box.. his was a 15" also. He had 4 in a suburban and the plastic thing thats glueddow holdin the spier thin busted to lke 3 pieces...cheap subs I guess....about the same as the Power Acoustik MOFO...

the one that fked up on my buddy had a scratchy coil right off the bat, he bought those instead of 15" type R's:crazy://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

If it plays when you push on the dust cap, then the voice coil is not blown. It sounds like the tinsel lead came lose from the voice coil lead. If you remove the dust cap (if you can) you should be able to resoldier the tinsel lead and the voice coil lead back together.
