Soundstream Ref VS Sounstream Ref S

what was the difference between these 2 amps my understanding was that the S series came out after the original Ref.Also heard there were problems with the S series,anyone willing to chime in?

I run the 500.2 reference S. The only things I can tell you are 1) they are underrated and 2) they like to overheat.
