I say go for it i have cdt tweets up font and in the rear cdt 5.25 in front and type x refs 6.5s in the rear i want my back seat homies to have a full range of good sound as well

Many just put the most money on the fronts and amplify them, the rears either, not used or just driven by the HU power. If you have passengers that want to hear music back there or complain, then put some rears. I would not match them unless it is cost effective. If you get components for the back, you can point the tweeters towards the mid center part of the front seats.

Installing components it is just time consuming and a bit difficult, placing the crossovers and running extra wire.

My car is a 2 door, and the only passengers I ever really want is in the passenger seat up front. I use the rear only as temporary storage for whatever I want to cart around with me on that day. But wouldn't the sound, sound a lot more.. I don't know... full? With more speakers? I thought a complete sound system actually needed more than just 5 speakers. That being 2 tweets, 2 mids, and a sub.

Rear fill is good, just as fillers, as long as it does not affect the front stage. It depends on what you want. Do you want just good quality sound at front? (you will just need components and a Sub)

Do you want loud music that can be heard all over inside the car and get attention even for people that are not even in the car with your windows rolled down? ( then you will 4 speakers and a sub) if the car is small, then the rears could pollute your front stage. If you have an SUV or large 4 door Truck, Van or large Sedan then, put some rear speakers, but you do not have to match the brand or over spend on rear coax speakers.

Its a 95 mustang so I'd say that compared to most other vehicles its a relatively small car. And what I want from it, is just excellent sound quality for me and the one passenger sitting in the other front seat. There won't ever be anyone riding in the back of my car cause I don't want anyone back there. Its too small and I'm keeping the car forever and ever and never selling it so I don't want anyone rustling around back there putting unnecessary wear and tear on everything back there. So the goal is just excellent sound quality for the front. So according to this thread, all I need is my components up front, and a sub in the trunk. That sound about right?

Sounds about right, for a 2dr coupe..you can always add rear fill later on if you want..I do all my vehicles with rear fill, just for that extra surround affect..i still put amped power on them, at very low wattage,to keep it clean..Polks are very nice to put for rear fill, or look for a decent midrage. But, its up to you..Maybe later on, you could check some local SQ vehicles out in your area, that will/may have rear fill, and get a listen, and maybe add later on if you want. But for Now, Id get the Best for your money for front staging, makes all the difference in the sound if you prep the doors as well,Worth it if you are never going to sell the vehicle, and worth the expense

What I would do is a decent set of coaxials running on HU power. Don't hafta spend a whole lot for them and you can play with the HU fader to give you the amount of rear fill you like. It's really a personal preference whether to have any rear speakers or not. IMO big cars sound hollow without it but smaller cars are fine with just a good front stage.

i have a pair of 6x9 woofers crossed from 100 to 750 for the rear. i'm going to make some brackets and put my other pair of AA 6.75 woofers in their place at some point to have matching drivers front and back.
