Now i dont want any stupid, n00b remarks about sony. No childish BS in this thread...thank you.

/Rant

Anyway now, sony has a deck from the "specialty series" and it might actualy be a good buy for ~$200 (model number CDX-F7715X) Does anybody have some intelligent comments on this deck, bad or good? Specs are as follows...

CD/MP3 receiver with built-in amplifier (23.2 watts RMS/52 peak x 4 channels)

plays CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs (including discs loaded with MP3 and ATRAC3plus files)

EQ7 (7-band equalizer and 7 preset tone curves)

flip-down, detachable faceplate with full-motion fluorescent display

BBE MP to revitalize your compressed music files

Dynamic Soundstage Organizer for improved soundstage focus

CD changer controls

XM Satellite Radio controls (XM subscription, optional XM tuner, and antenna required to receive the satellite radio signal) ? service is available only in the lower 48 states, not available in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories

4-volt front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs

wireless remote

clock

18 FM/12 AM presets

seek tuning

auxiliary input

SSIR-EXA tuner for high-performance AM/FM

CD frequency response 10-20,000 Hz

CD signal-to-noise ratio 120 dB

FM sensitivity 9 dBf

1-year Sonic Electronix warranty

They had some pretty terrible problems with their lasers a few years back but have since cleaned up their act and build a pretty decent CD player these days.

i was gonna nail him for not complying with your request of no sony bashing, but thanx for the racism. tactless on both parts.

as for the HU, it's ok at most IMO. 4v preouts, 7band eq, xm, remote. not a big fan of the fluorescent display, and i dont see any time alignment listed there. dunno what "Dynamic Soundstage Organizer for improved soundstage focus" means though, sounds important though.

i would stick with the more trusted brands.

I have had 2 sony decks... (Back in the day) and each of them died on there own.... from different causes..

1) The screen would DESIDE when it wanted to turn on.

2) The cds wouldnt eject

3)The screen would work... but not bright

4) The sub out puts stoped worked... then worked... off and on...

5) The buttons stoped working

MY solution.... bought a pioneer deck... and smashed the sony on the ground.... then burned it.
