Sony CDX-GT929U - no sound :(

Hi,

I've just fitted a Sony CDX-GT929U into my 1997 Toyota Celica. Everything turns on and appears to work fine (playing cd's etc) but there is no sound at all from the speakers (except for the beep when pressing buttons on the head-unit).

The old stereo is working fine, and all 4 speakers are working fine (I've plugged that back in to check and they're fine). I've used a connector thingy from Halfords.

There are 2 wires that come from the head-unit that are loose: a light blue one (labelled ATT) and a blue/white one (labelled AMP REM). I assume this is fine as I don't have an external amp (yet?).

Please help - there's a couple of beers in it if you can tell me how to get it working. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You shouldn't need the REM wire because there is no external amp, not sure about the ATT.

Your car MAY have a stock amp, but I doubt it since you have the beep I doubt it.

1. How did you check to make sure the speakers worked?

2. Remove the unit out of the dash and find an old speaker, home, car, it doesn't matter. Tap into one of the speaker wires and see if there is sound. If there is, then you have a wiring problem (harness, snipped wire, etc) if isn't, then it's a problem with the headunit.
