I try to be active, helpful, knowledgeable in anandtech, fatwallet, caraudio, and vwvortex forums. Sometimes you have a piece of info that really helps someone out, people are helpful too.

Then you try to help someone out at and others chime in with things like this....

but DO NOT JUDGE BASED ON PEAK WATTS. The peak watts mean nothing provided you're not clipping signals or playing gainmaster with your amp.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

What makes you think peak watts is not just as meaningful, or even more so, than RMS. RMS is virtually meaningless when applied to subs, unless of course one is into the playback of sine waves over extended periods.

I mean, how does one really respond to that sort of stuff.... it's not the original poster's reply, just a user. You know you could try to make a detailed explaination and correct it, but I'd prefer the ability to just delete the person's comments about sine waves and all in the hopes of preventing anyone from actually believing something like that.

Maybe the worst part about hanging out in forums is trying to keep a reputation..... oh well.

yeah i hate idiots that say RMS means nothing. it's like so the amp says 1200rms that means it's 2400peak right awesome i have a 2kw amp. you can literally never achieve anything higher than the RMS rating and if you can than **** you've got some serious electrical upgrades ya know what i mean. ignorant people man.

Thanks for that, I didn't realize the person was trying to defend their position now. I think there's a joke about argueing on the internet ... too tired to remember it now. Goodnight.

do you mean - Arguing on the Internet's like racing in the special olympics... even if you win, you're still retarded...
