Something Wierd Happened

i was going down the highway, going about about 70 to 75. i was playing some screwed and chopped music at full tilt. i look down at my voltage and it was 14.3(usual) then it hit one note and jumped up to 14.5 then it hit a lower note and went up to 14.7 to 14.8. i get off the highway scratching my head and start driving again to see if it does it again and driving around 50 it stayed between 14.3 and 13.9. does anybody have any suggestions on what happened? whatever it was wish it was always like that:D

when you were going 70 to 75 your engine was at higher rpm so your alt was putting out more. when you were only going 50 your engine wasn't at as high rpm so your alt wasn't putting out as much. most alts put out there max at i believe 2k rpm but i'm not 100% sure on that. so i'm guessing when you were going 50 you were below that? and going 70 to 75 i'm sure you were well over that

even if it was 2000 rpm depending on the pulley reduction, that would equate to less than 1,000 engine rpm. and it would not make a difference going from 50 to 70mph

edit: and it is usually a bit more than 2000 alt rpm

i was thinking of the engine rpms just being down a little more when he was going 50. like if they had droped more towards 1500 or so. thats why i said it would make a difference. it all depends on the car though.

As long as you don't start going in the 15s or constantly stay at 14.8+ I wouldn't worry about it. That may indicate your regulator is going bad.

thanks for all the answers so far. but my rpm's at 70 are right at 2000 and at 50 maybe around 1500 but it has never done anything like that even with rpm well above 2000. its got me lost. my voltage meter is off of the front battery if that makes any difference. i have 2 batcap 2000 in the back and 2 duralast gold under the hood.
