why the huge surround with only 4.9mm of xmax?

4.9 is it? i'm designing a downfired false floor box for my s10. 4 dayton 8's. they have 9 mm xmax. i'm anxious.

4.9 is what it said on the product page in your first link. i don't know whether or not thats true.

also there is a big difference between xmax and xmech.

xmax = linear travel

xmech = till she bottoms out

I jsut put a thin layer of silicone between making the connections of the wood, to ensure a good airtight seal.

I no liek wood glues.
