So you think you're loud...

Don't forget after 193 decibels it's all goes a bit screwy. You can't actually generate pressure past 1at. The formulas change slightly I believe and your actualy just measuring the raw force of the shockwave, it's no longer "sound" as we normally describe it.

The shock wave caused dark energy and the universe is still accelerating infintely outward. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Who says you cant actually generate pressure past 1 atmostphere? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

you can create positive pressure past 1 atmospher, justn ot negative. In a shock wave dB scale you dont normally see negative pressure in the "wave", you may see a slight drop in pressure heading backwards towards the travleing shock wave but not a negative portion of a wave.

Basically what I am saying is a sound 'wave' cant exist past 2atm amplitude, but a shock wave can.

Similar to waves braking at the beach. You cant have a wave 5' amplitude in 2' of water (2' being the reference level). However as the wave bunches and brakes it pulls water from ahead of it and builds up to 5.' Its why you feel a ******* out to sea right infront of a wave too tall for the watter it is in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I think that's what he was saying. Sound is positive and negative complimenting each other. Beyond 1atm you can only have shock waves, usually complimented by a blast wind filling in the pressure trough behind the wave front.

Been there , they threw me out cause they were afraid I would take over //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It actually doesn't say where the reading was taken... but I'm pretty sure the sh!t aint 215db.
215dB = about 1500psi.

I'm sure a big bag of EXPLODING GUNPOWDER generates more than 1500psi, peak. I have no reason to DISbelieve the stat, until someone shows conflicting ACTUAL EVIDENCE...

Regards,

Gordon.

Anyone see the episode of mythbusters when they built that 5foot speaker and did like 176db, I actually missed it my friend told me about it. Just wondering what they used??
