So what's the deal with the PS4

there is already complete details on its insides what exactly are u ****** talkin about....take ur **** back to MAF
So, once again, I was referring to the speculations that this thread is about. Obviously you see that there is a thread about things that we do not know yet, so is it just complete stupidity or maybe misreading that brings you confusion?

I've been reading various articles but not much is mentioned outside of the hardware specs and speculations. Anyone know what's new, and if it will play games without the disc?
At this rate I'm going to sell my 360 and games and upgrade my PC... First off you have to install the games PC has been doing this and its one of the disadvantages because you can't let your friend borrow the game. Secondly theres almost no split screen support which is one big reason to choose console over PC. Third PC has dedicated servers and ps4 is JUST starting to use this, you also have to always be connected to the NET what kinda crap is that?

IMO consoles have become identicle to computers but lacking many features computers have: Free Online Play, Better Looking Games, Upgradability, Mods, Bigger Game Library, More Versatility (IE using XBOX controllers on PC for racing/fighting games.) and the list goes on...

I'm done with consoles.

So do y'all think the graphics will be noticeably improved over the ps3/360? Or are we pretty much limited by the resolution?
TV Resolution is actually pretty high and comparable to most PC's... with that aside resolution does not make or break a video game textures, physics, AI, new technology like DX11 and Tensilation, better performance with more going on. That's what makes a console next gen or a pc or whatnot, not the dang resolution of your TV. A true 1080p TV set is f 1920×1080 which is higher than 90% of most gaming monitors. If they start giving full 1080p functionality and you run a 30-40" TV on 1080p resolution WILL NEVER be a problem.

PS4's Used Game DRM Canceled?

published: 2013-05-27 08:45:06

Following last week's unbelievably disastrous console unveiling, everyone's attention strayed from the anti-consumer measures being touted by the Xbox One and it firmly landed on its arch-rival the PS4. Why were people concerned and worried about the PS4? Because many gamers are now worried that perhaps the leap from the Xbox One's used game fee(s) to the PS4 is not so far fetched and despite Sony confirming that used games could be played on the PS4, it was never clarified if there would be additional fees to do so.

Well, new information from several sources are now claiming that Sony has been eying the crap-storm that followed the Xbox One out of the gate after key executives at Microsoft spilled the beans, and word around the block is that Sony will be axing any used game DRM policies following the consumer outrage.

Gematsu gathered quite the information bubble and laid out the possibility of the PlayStation 4 completely forgoing any sort of used game restriction at all.

The report points to several sources on NeoGaf – a forum site often used by employees of the gaming industry, either anonymously or conspicuously (and sometimes even viral marketers) – and one member had this to say about the PS4's used game DRM...

The jist of it is that Sony is listening to the backlash that Microsoft (MS) is getting and they are basing decisions off of this,” ... “I would assume MS is also, but I don’t know that for sure. But I can say, for sure, that the past week’s PR nightmare for MS has not been lost on Sony and they, in fact, do have a used game ‘solution’ working and have been going back and forth for months on whether to use it. This past week is pushing them strongly into ‘Yeah, let’s not use that.’ ”
So what makes this guy's post noteworthy? Well, because he has some follow-up information that you might want to read up on before making any final conclusions. In another NeoGaf post he writes...

“I just heard on Friday that [the used games DRM] wasn’t [coming]. I didn’t want to come right out and post about it because leak-y individuals like myself are getting a bit too much attention. and I don’t care about myself, but I’m not really looking to get my friends into trouble. But I’ve confirmed it with a second person so I got dumb and posted it.”
It's not just idle twaddle and digital prattle to pass around from forum board to gaming websites, the posts above come with a message: Make it clear to Sony that you DO NOT want any form of DRM in place to prevent used games on the PlayStation 4.

The NeoGaf poster tossed out the following Twitter accounts and wants YOU the gaming community to make it known to Sony's head honchos that the PS4 should be a DRM-free console. Send a brief message to one or all of the following individuals using the hashtags #PS4NoDRM and #PS4USEDGames.

Sony is listening, so make your voices heard!

PS4's Used Game DRM Canceled?

the PS4 announcement is to help sell the new 2k and 4k resolution TVs that Sony has released. if you get a PS4 when its released, you're just wasting your money. No matter what TV you have the picture does not get better with out first improving your source. even if the PS4 has an output resolution of 2k or 4k, we don't have anything other than cameras with that type of resolution. I hate how ppl make one TV better than the other b/c it's 1080p or 720p. almost all games on PS3 and 360 are in 720p with a 5.1 DTS format. same thing with blu-ray, most are 1080p with 5.1 DTS so that make your 7.2 surround sound system irrelevant. if you have cable as your TV source, it only has a max 720p resolution. if you watch a majority of Apple TV or BluRay disc than you have a need for a 1080p TV. if you play a major gaming platform like PS3 or 360 than a 720p TV with a high refresh rate would be plenty. all the viewing technology out there is a waste of money for the average consumer. if you have a dedicated area for just movies/games/etc and your have it built for just that than fine. the PS4 technology is not going to be usable for atleast the next 4-6 years unless there are major changes to the sources out on the market. you can have the best TV on the planet if your source ***** the picture will ****, inversely you can have the best source on the planet if you have a poor quality TV your picture will still ****.

This makes ZERO sense theres more than a handful of PS3 games that take full advantage of 1080p, PC games run at higher than 1080p. With the technology PS4 and XBOX One are coming out with 1080p will then be the norm, the SOURCE is PS4 and XBOX ONE I don't get what you're saying it makes no sense... Resolution doesn't make or break graphics you can play GTA IV on a SDTV it will still look as good just not as sharp or "defined." 1080p is more than adequate.

Reports show XBOX1 is not using discs so the source can easily be manipulated if you play Crysis 3 maxed out on PC in 1080p you would know what I'm talking about, TV's are NOT holding the consoles back at all.

sony never once said they would be gaming in 4k....they said blu ray would support 4k but not gaming....

Yes, by a big gap. With consoles, they don't have the additional processing duties of a pc, so a lesser gfx card can display great graphics. I believe the 360 and PS3s graphic power are about equal to the AMD 3000 series. 3800 to be exact. Any gamer now that card can't run a game now. Would probably struggle to run some Android games. But consoles are more efficient. The ones about to release I hear are equal to the 7850. This now can run games 1080 at about 60 fps no prob. Add in console efficiency, which supposedly had made gaint leaps and bounds for the next generation and you have a recipe for really astonishing game play
