I am moving there but it isn't as simple when you're talking about going to another country as it is moving from Louisiana to say....Florida or somewhere.
There is massive amounts of governmental bureaucratic BS that has to be navigated (I have to get Australia's version of a 'green card' and obtaining that isn't a particularly simple process)
I can go visit all I like on a tourist visa but they are only good for 3 months at a time renewable for a total of 12 months ~ then I would have to leave the country or risk getting deported. The main drawback (outside of time) to that is the inability to legally work.
My wife and I currently have an application for a permanent residency visa for me in the pipeline but again, it is dealing with a government agency and as such is extremely time-consuming. I have found, by having to endure this garbage, that Australia is one of the (if not THE) hardest industrialized nation on the planet to gain residency in if you are not born there. They are rather at a premium for acceptable living space. No one wants to live in the interior where it sometimes reaches 145 degrees F during the summertime and those that do live there literally live underground due to the extreme heat.....everyone else lives on the coast and they're just about out of space //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
