So, last time I let a friend work on my car - how bad of shape am I in?

this is why i only let my dad work on my car. never had an issue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif then again i have only had to replace the belt on my car @ 110k miles and get new brake pads like twice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

IF you didn't hear any thing out of the ordinary when you tried to crank it you may be fine. like coma said just get the engine back in time and if you can get your hand on a borascope to look in to the cylinders to see if the valves are ok then you may be fine. if it is an interference engine then you may have bend valves as well as damaged pistons, which depending on what year the car is and condition of the car then it may be cheaper to just get another car.

yeah, your screwed...just looked it up and im 99 percent sure its interference. Pistons hit the valves and bent them most likely. Bent valves means the cylinder will not hold compression properly and therefore not work right. Time the bad boy right, then try to start it i guess. You might even get lucky...
