So, is my Shiva really supposed to be this quiet?

i'm surprised that no one else caught this....

if it sounds fine with the trunk open then you DO have cancelation issues. If it gets louder at all then you should re-position the sub. It should get quieter when the trunk is opened, not louder.

Well I guess I misunderstood the concept of cancellation but either way the subs sound about the same with the trunk open and I've moved around the box several times and also have tried the sub facing up and towards the front of the cabin.

I cranked the gains a bit and turned up the midbass on my Alpine and got a decent amount of bass but still not quite pleased, better than before though. I'm starting to think Alpines have some issues with bass.

Now, does anyone know why my CDA-9807 refuses to remember the bass settings? It seems to keep time but everytime my car is off for more than a few minutes, my subwoofer volume is back at 0 as are my bass and treble settings.

somthing that made got my attention while reading this thread is the fact that you all have your alpine decks turned to the low 20's when at full crank the preouts are still clean as can be even on an osciliscope and that low you are not even taking advantage of the high voltage pre-outs
