This semester started doing a complete install, from dowloading portages and tarballs, to installing xwindows and KDE, the whole works. Sucks though, our class is 1:50 long, and our network boggs down BAD. Emerging KDE at about 14-30kb/s takes FOREVER.

KDE sucks. basic linux xwin. Enlightenment is much better and more suitable for GUI. Slackware is a decent distro. I've always used it.

We had the same problem in my I.T courses as far as bandwidth going to shit from everyone trying to do updates at one time. So we just built an update server and it dishes them out at 3 a.m.
