I also went crazy rewiring everything sodering all connections putting grommets, etc... For about a week, before I was sitting listening to my ride with out it running for about 5 minutes and was so dead it wouldn't crank over it would hold and give 12-13v but the resavoir of power was substantially lowered so went the amp and subs would pull more than was able to give it was stealing or cutting off the headunits juices... Even a few times during really heavy bass songs during my headunits powered off n turned back on or would take a long time to turn on when I would first start up... Having you maybe tried turning off the amp n seeing if this cleared up the issues with the hi's n mids?
