This whole car audio thing is pissing me off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif I just installed some SLC's and have a bad hiss. So I decided to set my gains where maximun wattage is reached at 32 on the HU instead of 25 (lowering gains in hopes to decrease hiss). Im needing to get a voltage of 24.4 volts (150 rms at 4 ohms). I go to my car and turn my HU to 32, and with a DMM, begin adjusting the volatage to 24.4. When I get it set, I look at where the dial is and its at 3 oclock, over 3/4 of the way around and the max voltage I can get is 24.9 with the HU set at 35 (maxed) and the amp gain all the way up. To me, having the gains at 3/4 seems a little high. Whay are they so high? Is it becasue my HU is only 2v output?

And btw, lowering the gains all the way didn't get rid of my hiss //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Is leaving the gains set to 3/4 ok? I mean, I set them with a dmm and it comes out to be 24.4. So its not stressing the amp I don't believe. Whats yall opinions. I realyy don't want tog et another HU because I love the iPod control. If anything I would get a line driver. Any ones to look at specifically?
