so FI is hella gay..

Ah sealed, missed that. Then yes, its strictly an input power and/or box size problem. Turn down the gains, or throw some wood in the box to reduce internal volume. If you already like your alignment, turn down the gains.

Id be surprised to see the relatively large gauge wire of a tinsel lead melt before the smaller gauge wire in the coil did. As Nick said above, generally speaking a broken tinsel is from over-excursion, not too much current flow. Mechanical failure, not thermal.

Tinsel is just stranded aluminum woven with cotton fiber.. what can happen is that you get an area with alot of flex which stresses the aluminum fibers and creates an area of high resistance.. that area in turn gets hot and eventually burns off..

I'm not saying thats what happened.. but I've fixed numerous leads which were clearly burned off before...

Interesting. Most Ive seen were simply snapped in half. But Im no expert on recones.

Vast majority of tinsel issues comes from over excursion and simply beating the heck out of the speakers...

Seen it way too many times //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But it's not a issue anymore as we have integrated on all the lines...never had tinsel issues before, if you abuse them they'll break...

kicker amps the 06 models either are on or off and its set at 25hz the 08 models are always on at 25hz you cant turn them on and off like the 06's

but he has them sealed prob didnt set the gains right

ya you're probably retarded and pushed the subs too hard. over excursion broke the tensiles.

thus you fail, fi rocks. and scott has been in constant email contact with me helping me with special needs with his products despite me having yet to buy anything directly from them. it may take a few days for them to respond....but they're busy guys. you just sucks

Hey StreetBeater, I see that you are in St. Charles. I just graduated from ITT out in earth city.....

Like nick said, most likely the reason that the tinsels broke is because of overexcursion, which means that the box is too big or you could be clipping the amp because the gain is too high. Something is set too high/wrong. I see that you box is sealed at 11cubes and the amp is a zx2500. Well those subs are rated at 1000Wrms so you might be overpowering them. Kicker is well known to underrate there amps so you could be sending them 1200-1300 each......

I live in South County STL so if you ever need help messing with settings on your amp, or just want to shoot the shit about Car audio hit me up. I am not as knowledgeable as many of the guys on here, but I love helping with stuff.

Curtis
