Smelling VC. Clipping?

So just today I was blasting the XXX for about 10 min or so, I and I noticed the infamous "VC smell."

I was playing a song that was probably in the 45-50 hz range (my box is tuned to 32 hz) and once I smelled it I turned down the volume.

The amp is an IA 20.1, set the gain on the DMM at 42.42 volts (1800 watts) and the SSF is some where between 35-50 hz. Sub is 04 XXX 12".

This is the only time I have noticed it and was wondering if it might just be glue burning off since it's a fresh recone. The sub is not blown and it only happend for a few seconds before I turned it down.

Just checking to see if anyone might have a clue.

One more question before starting a new thread. Has anyone else noticed that in the heat, your subs don't hit as hard? I noticed this today as well, and was wondering if excessive heat in the trunk could cause even great impedance rise?

There, no more for now.

It has to do w/ the barometric pressure and humidity in the air. Term-Labs reads lower in hot/humid weather

Well I didn't use the DMM to set it. Can you compensate for less gain and more SSF?

I know when I was setting the SSF after setting the gain, I BARELY turned the SSF down from the 55 hz setting and I was getting a major sound difference; it was getting louder and the excursion didn't seem too much for it when I listend to and watched the sub.
