Slightly interesting news on Rockford Fosgate

Just reading VoiceCoil mag this month....

Rockford Fosgate reported a small profit for the second quarter, ended June 30, and for the first six months of its fiscal year. This marks the first time since 2003 that the car audio company was profitable for the first half said President William Jackson, who attributed the results to Rockford Fosgate's 2007 product line.

Maybe I am missing these RF products capable of turning the company around, but at least RF seems to be making some headway. A bit more...

Net income for the first six months was $103,000 compared with a net loss of $1.1 million for the period last year.

Thats good news.

Im not real fond of their recent products (since the late 90's), but I would hate to see an old US auto sound company go tits up.

Well, I would expect that. If we assume that most of the RF sales are in large retail stores (BB, CC), they wouldn't really see much profit until late in the third quarter, as holiday sales start to line up.

The day after thanksgiving (with all those sales), is called "Black" Friday because that is the day that retail stores enter the "black," meaning that they come out of debt and start to turn a profit on their investments.

This time of the year is good for anybody selling any goods, as well.

holy shit. 103k in 6 months?! i did not expect it to be THAT low.

That does seem incredibly low unless thats AFTER costs. If its 103k of PROFIT already, that's pretty good.

I think by net income they are trying to say profit, but im not sure. Not that bad, but not really good either.

Congradulations Rockford, compare to other companies that's great because the car audio industry is not the same from years back. I guess they are doing some profit to advertise a double-page spread in our magazine for a year.

people are complaining about the $103k profit they made, why not dwell on the loss from the previous year at this time that was 10x that much in the red... that seems to be a bit more astonishing.

you hit it right on the head and here in NYC, the shops were or still are falling like flies and in return hurts me. I had eight or nine major companies and now only three. I hope it gets better for the whole system game and my sake as well!
