Skar Audio crap

I bought a pair of VVX 10s. I had heard about Kevin's history, but didn't really give a shit. People said the subs were good for the lows (which is what I was after) and the sub + box combo made it an even better buy for me to recooperate from my losses (my old system was stolen).
There was no problem with communication whatsoever, responded to my emails within minutes of sending them. Few days later my subs came in the mail, and a few days after that the box came in the mail. Now there were some errors with the box, the sub cutouts were too small for my subs (lulz) but I emailed kevin about it and he responded in a minute or two and we were emailing back and forth and he said he would pay to ship the box back and fix it and pay to send it to me but I didn't wanna wait that long so I just fixed it myself.

A little bit later I had another problem with the box, the board for the port was loose and would rattle when low notes played. I emailed kevin about this, and the first response I got from him was him offering to just ship me another box free of charge and let me keep the other one. I was a little skeptical at first, just because I had heard of his history, but within a few more days a new box was at my door.

From being on this site, I've bought from 3 people, kevin included and I've had great experiences with each one of them. Yeah there were a few errors with my enclosure from Kevin, but he took care of it. Hell a lot of companies honestly would not have done what he did for me.

Now I do not agree with his actions of editing posts, instead he should have just deleted them. Am I going to hate the guy? No. He gave a valid reason why he edited the posts, but he should have taken a different action instead. Kevin, if you happen to read this post, if you see somebody post dumping in your forum, just delete the post. Person can't get butthurt about it if they're post dumping anyway.

I'm happy with my Skar subs, they way exceeded my expectations. I am however disappointed that Skar isn't making their new sub a 10" model though :/

Oh i remember Kevin posting the prices for a 12, 15, and 18" model, but there was no price posted for a 10 so I assumed there wasn't going to be one.

 
Meh, whole thread is meh.

You've got some people so concerned with not seeming "butthurt" online that they are essentially condoning shady business dealings because "we all make mistakes".

But, whatever, people will buy what they wish regardless and only time will tell how his past/current actions affect the future of Skar. You reap what you sow.

I read the whole thread and couldn't help but laugh -- at both sides. I knew kevin for awhile and actually met him in person, He was a cool generous guy in person. Outside of that when I was running his product he was nothing but helpful. But his business practices drew me away from even associating with him. Just like Audio Technix their business practices are young and dumb and sometimes very shady.

There is a thread over at SSA detailing some more Kevin shenanigans -- It could go either way with this thread however you look at it.

Those are old links. every company has a few problem they must deal with. How many other companies out there deal with there share of problems or make mistakes. All the so called "dirt" people have is old as ****. So many people talking **** and never dealt with him or know the product. Just alot of d riding to be cool with other forum members. Theres always a few unhappy people that's the American way. To sit at home on the interwebz and be a gangsta on the keyboard..

And to me being mad at losing.....I wasn't to mad at losing at all. It's just "How I lost" that baffled me. I was winning with around 7,000 views out of the 8,000 needed and you only have like 5-6k. Then literally 1 day later your video shot up to 12 or 14,000 views?!?!?!?! lmao idk what you did or how you did....but it got you the W I guess. I didn't complain about the loss at all either so Idk where you're getting the me being so mad thing.

Regardless though man, you won and should be paid. I just wish you would call Kevin and attempt to get paid vs trying to claim a prize via a bash thread lol.

Are u serious? I don't see how u guys don't get this....maybe you're just pretending not to.

If no potential customer cared about past business dealings, there would be no need for feedback systems. Basically, by you guys reasoning, one can be as shady as they like with their business dealings and do whatever they want whether it be legit or not if they are sure to make a few other customers happy.

Look at it this way, if you were buyin an amp off of me or any other forum member and my feedback showed 2 negatives and 50 positives, would u not ask about the negatives? And what if I blew u off and said it doesnt matter that I scammed a few people, because I did good to the other people? Would that be acceptable to you? Sure wouldn't be for me.

No one is saying you guys shouldn't be a fan or even friends with Kevin. I don't know the guy like that to make that kind of call. But, be a man about it and let your buddy know when something he has done is wrong or even if it appears wrong.

This isn't some CL deal. This man owns a company. Thats a whole other ball game and he needs to be willing to explain his seemingly shady dealings at any point especially on a public forum regardless of whether you feel like we are all "nuthuggers" or just out to bash Skar. At the very least, if he explains himself, consumers can make an informed decision whether or not to buy from him. But, it looks way worse to just brush the questions off and get defensive and act like a victim when approached about it.

And, before you try to say I'm e-thugging, I have zero interest in fighting you or anyone on this forum over this issue. I'm just surprised that you guys don't see the point so many people are trying to make...

I understand exactly where you're coming from as I hate explaining myself numerous times. I hate even repeating myself when people don't hear me lol But, thats one of those things that comes along with owning a company. Its one of those things that he just simply has to deal with, especially being that he made some bad decisions in the past and now wants a chance as a respected business owner.

If you guys really are as dedicated to CS as you say then regardless of how many times this gets brought up, it should be proven that everything was handled and that Kevin is legit. Shoot, that can be as easy as posting a link to where Kevin owned up to, resolved and explained what exactly went wrong with the situation in question. To be honest, I have yet to see this happen and I'm pretty sure that is why so many people are raising hell about it.

In addition, the fact that everytime his bad dealings are brought up, all that is done is he or his friends brings up some good dealings. That doesn't resolve the issue at hand, so it ends up with no one being satisfied and the thread turns into a "bash thread".

A lot of times, its best to listen to your customers or potential customers and even "trolls" instead of just thinking: "well Kevin explained this already so, they don't matter and must just be out to sink us as a company."

Customer Service is about giving the customer what they want. If an explanation is what they want, give that to them. Hell, its free bro. No shipping costs or anything... just a little typing.
