Sirius Transmitter

Hi all, I have an interesting story to tell you. Today I wanted to see how far a friends FM transmitter on his sat radio would go. So I drove my car up to his, then reset the odometer, and drove on a straight road until it started to fade out, it was 1/10 a km or 1/16 a mile or 100 M or 300ft. Is this normal? or what?

Your opinions would be appreciated.
