Just wondering, when I go to get my 15A metered on sat. what types of tones are going to be best for spl. IE- should I be using sine waves or pink noise etc. and should I use constant tones or linear/log sweeps?

I would just burn everything onto a disc but it seems like a lot to fit into my short time with the AC and TERMPRO.

Thanks

you want to the sine wave that peaks the loudest in your car and is generally 7-10hz higher than the box is tuned. try about 3 or 4 in the 30 seconds you have for your run if its a competition you are going to. if not, toy around with the mic and test little things.

Constant tone. Sine sweeps drain you of precious voltage before the resonant FQ of your car.
hmm i just answered a question about sines... sorry. must of brought it over from that.. i meant flat tones just like mark corrected me on.

If you dont have a mic to play on, whatever your box is tuned at, start at about 7hz higher. Make sure you have them in order like 40,41,42,43,44,45.

Pause your deck about 5 minutes before you run up and wait in line or whatever for the mic and rev your engine a little bit as you are waiting to get a nice charge on your electrical system (do not play anything at all) turn it up to volume before distortion and clipping (while deck is on pause) and start about 7hz higher when you are up to compete. play each track for about 7 seconds since you dont really know where you are at and jump to the next track untill your time is up. the mic will record your highest db level reached but pay attention to what track is gaining the high number so you know. you also may want someone on your trunk and mabye a guy on your pass. door or your driver door. youll have to learn how your car gets loud and what to do where.
