Simple Eclipse deck RCA connection Question..

My buddy installed my Deck a few years ago in my old vehicle and I'm not sure whats the best hookup for my new car. The deck is an Eclipse CD7000 , going to an AudioControl Matrix, going to a 2 channel amp to run Rainbow comps for the front stage.. The deck has 3 sets of RCA out.. front/hi.. rear/mid.. and then a non fader/low..

What should I connect to for the front stage ?

Thanks in advance

uh, front might be a good idea for your front stage,

One would think.. But does the front/hi output only put out the hi range frequencies ?

If so, then the drivers in the door wont get the lower end that they should...?

I am thinking it's labeled front/hi...rear/mid for a reason ?

not exactly sure why those are labled that way, it all depends on where the crossovers in the hu can be set, everyone i know, and have worked with has always had front stage on the front out put, im currently only running fronts in my setup and i can set the crossover on my p860 down to 50 hz, i run it at 100 to be nice to the mids though, so it all depends on the exact specs on the hu,

best thing to do is hook it up and try it out, just play it before you put your car back together to see if you like it or not

The CD7000 has crossover and TA capability so I suppose it should be fine, However, I just got another idea and maybe run the comps active off the head unit and amp..

This stuff can be madd confusing...lol Thanks !

if your going to run active i would suggest getting a 4 chan amp, running tweeters off of the head unit is a bad idea because the signal from the hu is not clean enough to do them justice and can eaisly blow the tweets, and you probably wont get the power that you want out of the mids if they are on the hu, just a suggestion though.

im soon to be goin active on my front stage with a jbl gts50 and gts150 combo.

I already have an Mmats 4 channel and a 4 channel RCA cable i can use. That's why I got the idea.. Should maybe try and use the decks full capabilities. I dunno what to do now..lol

ok, then just use the mmats, get a set of 4 chan rcas, or to sets of 2 chans, and run the front output to the tweets and the rear to the mids, putting them on the front and rear channels of the amp respectively, when you first hook it up have the gains off, then set them for the pre-out voltage of the hu.

Thanks! I started a new thread in the General Discussion area on going active.
