selecting Hz

how do u go about knowing wha hz to set.. i have 4 12 kicker xpls in a seal box at about 1.3 cubic feet per sub..my amp i have an OrionXTRPro 2400 watt amp.. i dont really know what HZ to set it at.. i also have a MTX crossover.. again, dont know what HZ to set it at.. and also, my head unit.. i have Pioneer AVH-6400.. once again, dont know where t set the Hz.. i now have my hz at 80.. on my HU, X/O, and not sure what the amp is set to right nowbut also believe i set it to 80.. as of right now.. my bass sounds pretty nasty.. like its to high.. its not a nice loud boom... its more like,.. ****.. i dont know.. kinda sounds sick.. i m guess like it to high in hz..but i am not understanding the Hz system.. i thought the higher the HZ was more for like highs and mids and lower the hz was for subs.

but it seems when i turn the hz up higher.. the bass get louder...

40~50Hz would be adequte, shouldn't it?

try setting the Hz a bit low, and raise the gain a little...

ok..looking at the spec sheet for the subs.. the frequency Hz is 25-500

and the amp lowpass crossover is 25 - 250.. but it says w/ use of an external x over i need t set it at 250hz.. so i guess i need to just set it to 250 on the amp.. and the HU, im not sure, i guess i just need to play around w/ the frequencies

Personally I would use only one of the above and defeat the rest if possible. The one on the amp though not as accurate as the active XO would be fine.. I feel there isn't enough control through the decks settings.

my amp has a low-pass xover that cuts off at 80Hz... sound pretty good to me... of course, it'll help if you've got another midbass that'll cover anything about 80Hz to about 250Hz or so...

if you don't like the high's then turn it lower.... (ohhh but u think its not as loud then)...

Do you have a bass boast?? usually those are geared in the 40's or so....

try boasting that and lowering your low pass freq
