Second Skin DP and LLP install w/ reviews

Thanks to ANT, I got my deadener here on Friday and got the rear deck and trunk pan done. I'm about to go do the trunk lid after I post this and I'll be back with TL scores to see if there is a difference in loudness. When I first metered, I only could manage a 142.2, legal, for the record. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I must say...DP and LLP is more than amazing! It completely killed all the rattles coming from my trunk floor pan. I wish I had before vids of just how loud it was. It was louder outside rattling than it was inside and I wouldn't even turn my HU up very often because of how discusted I was. There is NO rattle that is audible from the trunk area now, except a little bit from the trunk lid. I wasn't going to DP the trunk lid, but since I've got leftovers, I may as well.

The install took me about 4 or 5 hours to completely do the rear deck and the floor pan. This is taking everything out and putting it all back in. And for the record, if you're going to use any sort of mat for deadening, go buy some TIN SNIPS. Fvck using a razor blade. Tin snips makes the job that much easier and faster. Oh, use the roller too. The picture of the LLP is very blurry, but you get the idea. I wish I could have a bed made out of this stuff! I think you guys could give Tempur-Pedic a run for the market //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I'm very pleased with the results and I honestly had very low expectations going into this because of just how bad the rattle was from the floor pan. It was honestly the worst noise I have ever heard come from a trunk car.

Here is some pics of the progress.

Like I said, I'll add more to this thread tonight once I complete the trunk lid and run the TL.

Not sure if this is complete, but I have to tell you that you need to seal that space. A small void in a barrier can let a lot of the noise you're attempting to block through. At most, it's 10%...but ideally you want it seamless. Use Gorilla Tape or cut up strips of deadener to make butyl tape to hold them together.

Well...I finished the entire trunk. I did the lid and I sealed up the best I could with the LLP in the trunk pan. My amp rack is a VERY tight fit, so unfortunately I had to cut some space. Everything still works great, and now my trunk is extremely quiet. It really is amazing how much little you have to use as far as the DP goes. I bought a bulk pack just to be safe and 2 sheets of the LLP. Let's just say, I'll have quite a bit in the classifieds soon.

S0...I did the TL testing and....well, I'll let you guys be the judge of the "wow" factor.

Testing was done legal, at the dash, sealed up. A 40 hz, 0 DB test tone was used. 40 hz is what I my car hit loudest when I did the 142.2.

Here is the vid.

(My camera died before I could run anymore tones, but at least I got the most valid one. I'm somewhat blown away! Also, this car is NOT a competion car, but I do consider it a true SQL system.)

Im guessing this is a BMW?
142 is not bad, those cars are hard to get loud
Yeah, it's a CLK 430 and you're right...it's hard as hell to get these cars loud.

Great results!
1.6 db increase...

Do you have the term lab video before the second skin sound deadening was added?

No, I don't. I didn't make a vid. But ssackett will vouch that I'm not lying about that 142.2. I PM'd him as soon as I did it and I was pissed because it was so low.

You can definitley hear a difference in SQ after the deadener install. Everything seems to sound so much more full and the bass is far more solid.

hey sorry if i missed it, but how much DP did you buy to get all that to fit in your trunk? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
