sears diehard platinum?

There's a reason my Odysseys are prized. And there is a reason Kinetic has a bad rap. And not just by me. I've used them and they're "ok," I guess. Just another batt. And if you stacked that DieHard up against the hc1800 in a CA app, it might come out ahead. Maybe. And maybe just in a burp situation. As for longevity... I doubt you could beat the DieHard.
What it boils down to is, your vote is for the Kinetic and mine is for the DieHard. That's all. You're a very logical person and I usually agree with you. Just not this time. It happens. Lol.
hey...i do like this one though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

PC2250 - Odyssey batteries

The Diehard g31's are Rebadged Odyssey 2150.

The people who make Odyssey (Enersys) makes the batteries for sears.

Julian,

That is a very astute observation. We private label the Sears DieHard

Platinum batteries and they are rebadged Odyssey batteries.

Thanks.

Seems Enersys is the provider of the Diehard Platinum series and is in fact the same as the 2150 from this post I found.

obviously not the same shit u been smoking....it does have a good warranty though, if that is where you choose to place your priorities.
hmm well maybe you should get some of what I smoke cuz its hella good....but seriously though theres more to it than the warranty, as everyone has said its made by odyssey which makes a hella good product

There are a few sales a month at sears, you can pick them up for around 200-250 each. I picked up 4 for less than a grand. My electrical is stout running 10+k.

lol..been awhile since I had some good...if it ain't good, I do without....let the mezzicanz keep that shit. I never said Sears was no good. You talk to someone who runs XS, and they are the best...someone runs Batcap, and they are the best...yada, yada..I do want to know about this virgin vs used and abused stuff though....something besides forum opinions, we all have those. I am all for using recycled lead and I do not mind buying it. I bet the Sears version has some recycled lead too...I betcha. Why would they ask for a used core on those batteries if they didn't?..see what I mean?..another opinion..lol.

If you look here on odyessey's page, http://odysseybatteries.com/ , about 3/4 of the way down under the indestructability section:

Pure Lead Plates: Constructed from 99.99% pure virgin lead, ODYSSEY battery plates are extremely thin, so more of them can fit into the battery. More lead plates equals more power
I think it easier to find manufacturers that admit to using virgin lead than recycled lead because it makes their product look better.

Core charges exist for environmental reasons, to encourage people from dumping old batteries and releasing toxic chemicals into the environment

If I just replaced my battery with a kinetic 1800 and do the big 3 will that be enough juice for me at 1650 watts?
IIRC, you have a 105a alt? I feel comfortable saying this:

You should do the big 3 and get a good AGM battery under the hood. Double check the dimensions on the HC1800 and your current battery to verify a good fit. With the 105A alt, it is going to be close, as far as keeping up...mostly this will depend on your listening habits. I mean, like if you listen to dubstep, or something similar with a constant low synthesized bassline at high volume, you will eventually overrun the fact alt. If you listen to more instrumental types of music, you might get away with it.

One of the most important and often overlooked things you should have is a digital volt meter tied into the power wire at the bass amplifier. With this mounted where you can keep a close visual on the actual voltage the amp is getting, you will accurately know how far you can push the system without pulling the voltage down too far. 1650 watts is pushing it on a factory 105 alt..kinda like dancing on the line. You might need that 180a DC Power H.O. once you get settled in with a good battery, better wiring and constant voltage monitoring. I can assure you of this though: You will need the battery and wiring upgrades, whether you find you need a H.O. alt or not.

a link to one of those volt meters (there are a few others to choose from if you google them):

Yea, the kinetiks are like that too, real densely packed.

I do not really see anything in the Odyssey that makes it stand out above anything else, performance wise...they do offer a couple of different batteries that are hard to find outside of Concorde/Lifeline. Kinda like the East Penn (Deka, MK, Trojan, etc.) batteries are pretty good...that 4 yr warranty is about all that puts the Odyssey above anything else, IMO. Lots of pleasure/fishing boat owners use Odyssey, Airplanes use Concorde, Any High End motor home or big power boat will be loaded with Lifeline, Emergency vehicles favor Deka....Car Audios use Kinetiks..lol...j/k

I agree with the Ah rating...reserve cap is a much more useful rating...but what is your point with the Virgin lead vs Recycled?...and where did you learn this info? link?
I was bsing with the owner of a local shop that used to carry kinetic, but switched to xs. He told me one of the reasons, is because they use recycled lead. I guess I trust his opinion, he is pretty well respected. There is a reason kinetic is lower in the list than many other batteries, and that is because it does not perform as good. I do like their pricing however, it is reflected in their performance. The video shows it all.

90% of all batteries made use recycled lead..that reason to discard a battery is absurd. As far as the video above, It means nothing as far as anything I would do with it, same for 90% of the people who buy one. Seriously? You are telling me you are putting a 500a load on a single D31 battery?

LOL...Fire up the load tester cold and put it on the XS first so that you can eliminate any doubt in my mind of unbiased testing in a XS Power sponsored video.

...the Author lost me when he explained breifly that the heat buildup in the tester was creating a lot of resistance....and obviously the video results reflect that fact...

but hell yea, 9.3v after a true 30 second 500 amp load test is allright in my book, I don't compete and the only comparison that will help me and many others like me is the same test between one of those D31's and a regular wet cell D31 or even a Yellowtop.
