Question:

Got a JL 500/1v2 amp and RE SE12 1.2ft3 sealed. Playing a 50hz test tone @ 0db octave my voltmeter said I was putting 42 volts to my RE SE12. JL says that the target ac voltage is 31.6 for 2ohms. I can't hear distortion of any kind, is this still safe for my sub?

Meh, I think the voltage method is somewhat useless, depending on the music you listen to. I set up my 1000/1 that way and with regular rock music, the woofer was barley moving at all. I guess it's good to use if you go around listening to test tones or bass CDs recorded at the same level. Personally, I say set it by ear, play it hard for awhile and feel the dustcap. If it's still cool or barley warm you are good to go (obviously listening for distortion too).
