well this guy in my class decided it would be a good idea to play with my amplifier while i wasnt watching...he turned the gain from 6V all the way up to .2V and then when i started my car my front speakers went out and my amp went into PROTECT mode, i turned my car off and a deep pop came from my amplified speakers (now it does it everytime i turn my cd player off) and when i skip a song it makes a weird noise through my speakers...not only that, but my alternator is whining when my amplified speakers are on, but when i turned off my cd player the whine goes away...is there something i can do to fix this? btw i turned the gain back to what i had it on.

oh, and now i cant turn my speakers up hardly over 30 or it would, i guess the word im lookin for is, "clip" and i cant hear my front stage for shit, someone please help.

Alt whine is related to a bad ground.

Usually the H/U ground.

Also, thats not nice that someone would do that

amps ground, change it - clean location thoroughly before re-attaching it.

yes the only ones whining are the ones powered by the amp.

ok in class today i grinded down the paint in my trunk, and relocated the ground, the problem still stands...could there be something wrong with the amp? if so im gonna return it to ikesound and get a lower watt amp.

somthing similar happened to me, it ended up having 4 resistors fried in the amp. i dont know if you want to open it up and take a whiff, but my speakers just emitted this crazy screeching\scratching\alt whine - my amp was busted. try a different amp - that will tell you if the amp is broke or not. for sure.

Send him a bill for new speakers and amp and say since you f\/cked with my sh!t you can pay to get it replaced now.

The real question is, why did the cat mess with ur gain setting in the first place? what was his excuse i wonder?
