Scam or no? local KX2500.1

I was looking through craigslist and came across a claimed BNIB, non refurb, KX2500.1 with a birthsheet reading 3000 on it.

the add had a generic picture of a kx2500.1, along with a picture of a birthsheet. I emailed the guy, offered him a price, he countered with a higher price, and we eventually settled on a middleman price.

The thing is, im at college, so my parents will just be taking one of my checks that i left them to my account to pay the guy, and they wont know what to look for when picking up the amp.

anyways, i emailed him back and okay'd the price, requesting pictures of the actual amplifier

is there anything i can look for that would indeed tell me its not a refurb?

any help would be great!

yeah, i would honestly only trust my dad with checking this kind of thing out, so if all else fails i'll have him go get the amp.

but if this guy believes that it is BNIB, is there anything that would come with the amplifier stating that it is a refurb?

sounds like a chance you just gotta take cause i dont think theres anyway to tell its a refurb without opening it

only place i know that sells kicker is CC. but i've never seen a KX there. take that back..i mean the 750 watt ones( ZX line).

you can buy kx/zx2500's from CC, you just have to special order them... iirc employee pricing was like $700 or sumthin

and if its a kicker refurb thats still in the original box then the box will just be a brown cardbord box with the kicker logo on it

if it is not a refurb it will be in a black and blue box that says kicker all over it

why are you so worried about it being refurbished?

whelp, i've been emailing the guy, and it seems pretty legit. The amp still has stickers over the vents, i had him take pictures of the amp with his name (that is supplied with his email address) with the amp, and i'll have my dad grab it locally for verification.

Woot for a brand new 2500.1 with 3000 on the birthsheet.

ill be sure to post up when i get it (prolly next weekend)

It's actually quite a bit lower than that, but the exact amount isn't supposed to be posted on forums.

I've had buddies that have had random problems with refurbs. They are a hit or miss, imo.

you get them from cc through accomodations, but i'm 90% sure he didn't pay $1600 for it
