SC400 with Professors and Coilovers

great cars, a girl i used to know drove the dogshit out of one, it had just under 300K when she totaled it. Still ran pretty well, just little things on the inside started fcking up.

Just a thought, the rear-end would look really clean all shaved:

And this is a nice one. Like the R33 wheels and kit...

it's called tire stretching, a pretty standard thing to do in the japanese luxury car and even european car groups.
why not just get tires that fit? That "tire stretching" look reminds me of the skated low riders mexicans here used to do. Short wide wire wheels with a narrow tire stretched to fit the rim.

...Just did some googlin, looks like its one of those goofy ricer/drifter things, that explains it.

btw, not knockin the ops car at all, love those cars, just saying it would look much better with some tires that fit.

the reason most guys do it is to fit the biggest most aggressive offset wheel under a stock fender. by stretching the tire, it pulls the sidewall in a bit giving some extra clearance.

however, it's pretty much teh opposite of what you would wan tto do in a performance application. i did it on my lexus for hte very reason i stated and i actually like the look; but it's all in the eye of the beholder.

back in teh early days in europe, there is actually a law stating that the tire cannot poke out farther than the fender. so in order to not break the law but still fit the most aggressive wheels possible, the vw guys would fit a narrower tire on a wide wheel; thereby keeping the tire inside the fender.

So its kind of like why people with donk's raise their caprices and such, so they can fit bigger rims. Can't understand making things look worse just to get bigger rims or a different offset to get more dish, to me thats counterintuitive, but to each their own.

Hey sorry, I forgot about this thread.

The reason for the tire stretch is to fit the rims. They are not stretch very much, I do understand its not for everyone. Its a big thing on JDM and Euro cars however, its a style. Like donking cars or fat tires on muscle cars. For this car its the wheel being flush with the fender as low as possible.

Im no way tracking this car, so the performance gain isn't needed. Am I getting rid of it? Nah. I got a STEAL on the rims/tires. For me to buy new rims it would cost $600 each. Not worth it hehe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Curb it? Well... I learned how to drive haha. I am very careful.

Shaved would look nice, I do like the look. No copyright infringement, don't worry.

19psi, nice LS, I am trying to get my friend to buy one and VIP it haha. Great motors.

I have more pictures on http://www.MySoarer.com folks, but heres a couple.

Nice. I really love this car. Hmm..now I'm not sure if shaved would look better or just go with the JDM rear emblems to match the front?
I havent decided either haha. Would putting toyota emblems on it make it less likely to get stolen? haha
