SAZ-1500D pushing 15" Q's

Well I finally got the ol Pioneer deck back in, and took out the RE 12.1 and swapped in the Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D.

Well I was in a bit of a hurry when I finished hooking everything up, so I played a few songs I'm familiar with and set the gains to where I think the drivers liked it.

Well I had problems with the amp going into protect at higher volumes, and I was hearing some major distortion.

So I went back home, and started messing around. As of now, the drivers like the gain to be ALL THE WAY DOWN. Absolute lowest the gain will go, I have no DMM here at the moment so no voltage reading, this is all done by ear.

So...seems this amp has plenty potential.

I really don't suggest 0.35 ohm operation on them. If it works for you, it is up for you to decide, but that is not covered under any warranty or guarantee. Although the protection is very effective and you are very unlikely to hurt the amp, that load is going to put alot of stress on it over time.

On that note, best of luck with your install and I hope it works out for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so you have 2 pair of Q 15"s? when you decide on wha tyou are keeping are you going to sell the other pair? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif :naughty:

Yes I have noticed it doesn't like the ohm load at all, it still goes into protect.
Looks like Ima have to put the D1's back in there.
Indeed, thats probably a good idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They *may* handle that sort of load for a burp in competition, but they have not been tested in that application either -- and I would not guarantee or suggest it to anyone. I suggest 0.5 ohms nominal as the lowest load for these amps.

On the note of warranty. I should re-word my previous statement. You are covered under the 5-year discounted replacement at 0.35 ohms, but not the limited 2-year warranty.

I wonder what the real load is though with Impedance rise...I would think it would be above .5.

I dunno, D1's are goin in either way I don't like running the amp at .35 it is pretty much yelling at me " I'm stout....but come on!!!!!!!!"

The 0.5 ohm load suggestion is in regards to the nominal load and not the actual impedance at a given frequency. Any nominal load under 0.5 ohms is not supported no matter the actual load.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think when you get the D1s back in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
