Sa-12 vs. sdc2.5 12"

AQ isnt going to like a 32hz tuning as much as a SA would. I think the AQ can pretty much take every bit the abuse the SA can, but I believe the SA will sound better, especially tuned lower

Correct on tuning - the SA is made to play low.

Thermally... the SA is significantly ahead in this regard.

 
the sa has about 30% more wire on a larger diameter coil. the aq 2.5 is actually a 2.375" coil.

the cooling is far better on the sa too.

lets not get into soft parts ahhhh.

the aq2.5s can be build into a nice sub but arent impressive stock...

this doesnt surprise me, but I have seen the AQs in proper installs handle 1k rms in daily setups, so its not as if they cant be abused.

And 500rms is fine. I think to often people want to abuse subs, which is why companies overbuild them in the first place. When possible, sending right around rms is actually a good thing. Short of clipping, either sub will handle 500 mechanically and thermally without breaking a sweat
