the old rockford punch power amps 500a2 and the 800a2 good sound quality amps . Or easy to set up for good sq. What's the scoop with these amps they underrated I heard and the boards are built very good . Hoping they are musical as well as being power houses

I not sure sq wise for this area of rockford for sq . Zapco soundstream, ppi P.Gold where know for sq around this time . There where tons of USA handcrafted engineered amplifiers . All well built and top shelf product . Rockford fosgate was one of them for sure . But I have searched around can not find info if they where strong musical signature to them

Have you taken rc's amplifier challenge? If you think you can hear a difference, go get you $10k. If you're asking if the amps have a low audible noise floor, and ample power to be used in an sq setup, without adding any extra coloring via crossover noise, etc. Then yes.

So I take it that out of the box with out a ton of tuning and setting up they are good sound quality products. The old alpine I liked they are very warm sounding and user friendly

who cares, when you use the amp, you are using the whole amp with everything coloration in there. They can be nit picky all they want but when it comes down to real world results, people hear differences doing amp swaps in real applications pre-tuning. Who the fk cares how those amplifier nutjobs test their sh*t and what they believe is right? Doesnt translate to what people actually experience with amps at all so in a way its misleading.

I with u 100% lol I like to swap out amps run amps to comps rear full range speakers cancel subs . Run amps with filters off let the crossovers on the comps do there job . Run the rear full range 6x9 with filters off . Some off the amps that have a reputation for sq do not have built in crossovers because that way u can't colour the sound

No, he asked about its sq properties my answer was the only correct one. Everything youre babbling about is install related.

The fact you run rear full range 6x9 indicates you dont know or do enough about sq to quibble about amp coloration.

Install related my @ss. Ppi 900.4took forever to gwt it to even a livable level of SQ. While my jl 6600 sounded better without any tuning out the box and sounded miles better with 15 mins of tuning vs 4 hours or more with the ppi 900.4 consisting of changing crossover points, independent left and right EQ, speaker positioning etc... Still doesnt even sound close to the JLin SQ atthe JLs volume levels, but it is louder at higher volume, enough to keep up with the substage. You can try to blame **** on install all you want, everyone's install is completely fked then.

Keep holding on to what nerds say on paper vs what you can actually hear and experience in real life.

Im considering getting a 2 channel ppi for a cheap tweeter amp. Probably run 6k and higher. Do you think itd be am acceptable idea or should I aim for better?

Ive never really thought of the rf amps as sq amps. Even the older ones. Ive always thought of them as powerful and relatively clean. That said, I like them. My 800a2 was a beast 2ch. It had to have been doing 1000+

You aint got sh*t. Everybody that competes and places high in mecca knows that your system is only as good as your weakest link and many times have they experienced their amps limiting them, not power wise but damping factor, efficiency, s/N and quality of overall parts. Well not like any of that matters. An amp is an amp to you right? all power is created equal in your eyes.

Dont think i forgot you TheJeep you are the noob that just trolls and dislikes posts and say stupid sh*t most of the times. New forum name wont erase that.
